In what is becoming an annual tradition, some of the Pentesec Team will be giving up our beds and braving the cold and wet weather with nothing more than a sleeping bag and a cardboard box this November, to raise money for Burton YMCA.
Thankfully this IS only for one night and we have time to prepare ourselves beforehand. Afterwards we can go home to a hot shower, heating, food and our own beds.
Many people can’t – this is the life they lead each and every day.
Everyone deserves a place to call home and to be supported in times of crisis. Please help us to help them.
Where Do The Donations Go?
All of our donations will go to Burton YMCA who are committed to providing a supportive and safe environment for those who are homeless, offering 71 rooms over 3 sites, and a winter night shelter which opens on the 1st of December.
As well as accommodation they provide practical and emotional support and run a food bank issuing emergency food to those in crisis.
Their ‘Reconnect’ site is open 365 days a year to offer showering facilities to rough sleepers, a place to do laundry and a place to talk to people who can help them.
Running these facilities to help people during the most difficult periods of their lives is a huge task taken on by volunteers and fundraisers willing to dig in and make a difference, to help these people back on their feet.
We hope to raise at least £1000 towards this cause, and your support can help us get there.
